Kumquat

History

Kumquat is a citrus fruit originating from South Eastern of Asia where it is cultivated for 3000 years.

This fruit was introduced in Europe in 1846 by Robert Fortune, then a short time afterwards in North America.

Kumquat name means “little golden citrus”.

Production and countries of origin

Kumquat’s production is in China, Malaysia and Taiwan.

The major production of crystallized kumquat is in China and Thailand.

Harvest

Kumquat are available in November and December.
